The video – labelled Fantastic UFO sighting in Santiago – starts with a girl becoming startled by the sight of four glowing orbs consisting of four lights floating high above skyscrapers.
The UFOs each move away from the formation before the footage cuts to eight singular balls of light hovering in a circular motion.
It has since been viewed thousands of times on YouTube.
But the video has divided opinion over whether it is a hoax.
One user wrote: “It seems like real footage, complete with atmospheric flickering and pixel density.”
Another wrote: “Real UFOs or military planes and helicopters.”
A believer said: “Those whose (sic) saying its fake they need to get a life and come to reality…”

“I don't think UFOs would use strobe light warning lights. These must be domestic aircraft”, wrote another user.
An Arsenal fan added: "Calm down people it's only angels protecting Alexis Sanchez. COME ON ARSENAL."
Earlier this month a UFO was captured above a mountain range in neighbouring Bolivia.
The vanishing flying saucer slowly hovered in the sky before mysteriously disappearing.
