Mysterious alien egg hatches on camera… in BRITAIN

A weird gelatinous egg was found in the New Forest by conservationist Dan Hoare.

Foul-smelling red tentacles then burst from the gloopy sack and reached out into the air as the nature lover watched.

The horrifying life form is a rare fungus known as the "octopus stinkhorn" or "devils fingers", according to metro.co.uk.

The mutant mushroom is native to Australia and News Zealand – but has now spread to British shores.

Most fungi sprout from the earth – but the freakish octopus stinkhorn – also known as clathrus archeri – emerges from an egg.

As it matures, four tentacle-like fingers emerge – growing to around 5-10cm in length.

The four arms are covered in a brown goo called "gleba" – which attracts flies.

The mushroom – which looks suspiciously like a facehugger from the Alien films – smears the flies in its spores, using them to spread its offspring far and wide.

The alien species has been spotted in Cornwall, Sussex, Bedfordshire, Hampshire, Kent, Suffolk, Surrey and the Channel Islands.
